Weapons

From Neverend

[edit] Special weapons

Dual-Scythe: a two ended scythe often used by Wraiths

Razor Flail: a razor flail is like a pair of nun-chuks with scythe-like blades on each end...so picture mini-scythes atached together at the bottom with a chain.

Spike Hammer: A large hammer that doubles as a close-quarters progectile weapon, when you smash the hammer into a target (say an enemies head), a thick steel spike will shoot out the center of the face of the hammer, impaling the victim. The spikes are held in a cartradge within the handle of the hammer, the cartradge holds 4 spikes at a time.the spike hammer is very difficult to reload, and is very very heavy.this weapon can be EXTREMLY lethal when carried by skilled hands.

Lunar: a 2 ended spear

Voodoo Doll: a voodoo doll is a doll entwined with vodoo magic containing a part of someone (like a lock of someones hair)..when you stick a pin into a certain part of the doll (ohh...let's say THE HEAD) the enemy will feel a sharp pain there...so they will be parcailly stunned for a moment..this would be usefull for asassinations.

[edit] Double bladed weapons

Two-bladed weapons could include one blade at half length, one curved more than another, one serrated and jagged in a different way than the other, two thin blades like a rapier or foil

If not a sword, there could be whips with two tendrils attached to the handle, using electricity/magic/biotech for movement, and use to grab limbs and restrain people as well as perform certain commands.

[edit] Various weapons

An Adze is an axe with its head turned horizontal, used in carpentry. It could be used as a weapon, such as a War Adze, Pole Adze, Broad Adze, Long Adze, or Chain Adze.

Eskrima sticks are simple wooden sticks with an effective system of martial arts that resembles nunchuku movements. Other stick weapons include baton, tonfa, and billy club.

Rogues could make good use of smoke bombs, gunpowder, choking bombs, climbing shoes, climbing gloves or knuckles, blackjacks for knocking someone out, and metal edged throwing cards thrown like shuriken (search for a book called Cards as Weapons).

Rope can be used to trip, lasso, strangle, trap, snare. It can be tied to make a net for throwing, or have a hook attached for grappling, or a harpoon attached for harpooning.

Bladed nunchuks would work with a long handle plus a blade on each end. A chain and sickle would be similar. A ball and chain or morningstar would also be a good chain weapon. Even a chain itself could be effective.

Sophitia's sword-whip seems cool but might be impractical- the sheer weight of each segment plus it has to retract perfectly and still be sturdy.

A telescopic cane has been used by magicians, basically it's one thin strip of metal coiled together by a spring, and when a button is pressed, it shoots out to make a cane.

A sword cane or cane blade is a simple cane with a handle that twists to reveal a blade inside.

A gun cane or gun umbrella must be aimed and shot at close range, usually firing a low velocity pellet. The pellet won't be lethal, but it can have poison, acid, or a chemical to make it more painful.

Gunblades and gun knives have been used, though a low velocity blast would be nonlethal.

Before guns there were actual hand cannons, simply tubes with gunpowder that fired a ball or pellet. Prone to error and blowing itself up.

Pole weapons include the halberd, and the curvier Japanese weapon, the Naginata.

Punching daggers and punching claws rely on a handle and direct forward movement to pierce.

Farmers can master the use of farm items in combat, including sickles, scythes, rakes, shovels, hoes, pickaxes, mattocks, spades, and tree axes. Combat specialized versions include the war scythe or war sickle.

Weapons that can have a boomerang effect include sickles, scythes, swords, axes, and round shields.

Scythes and sickles could have death-associated variants that rely on seperating souls from bodies, or "harvesting the living" to keep them fresh.

Death associated swords could have blood-draining properties and require bloodshed to prevent them from being weak or rusty.

Fans can include paper and metal, and be used for blocking, attacking, deflecting, and throwing. Magic properties can be attached for projectile effects, defensive effects, or other effects such as charm/seduce.

Whips can include leather, chain, serrated, vine, thorny, fiery, etc. Segmented whips are metal sticks attached to form a whip, such as Quistis from FFVIII.

Food that can be used as a weapon includes fish, pies, cakes, beer bottles, wine bottles, mugs, steins, fruit and vegetables (thrown), and animal legs.

Cooking items that can be used as weapons include chopsticks, cleavers, butcher knives, steak knives, cutting knives, spoons, forks, sporks, butter knives, skewers, spatulas, rolling pins, and bags of flour.

The items next to a fireplace can be used as weapons. The items a butcher, carpenter, blacksmith, woodcutter, or shipbuilder uses can be used as weapons.

Natural weapons include stones, rocks, sticks, branches, and vines.

Shields can be used as weapons for bashing, or slashing/piercing with a bladed or spiked shield.

Spiked or bladed armor could have a similar effect.

A kite would be an interesting weapon. Have metal edges, a normal kite or a carp shape, and pull in the string to hit multiple targets in one swoop or circle to keep hitting one target.

Boomerangs, Chakrams, and throwing discs could have a a non-guaranteed chance of returning to their user. Low skill could mean the item flies off somewhere, requiring cheap or weak versions for practice. Heavier metal versions would require plenty of skill to use effectively. Even with sufficient skill, a boomerang may return with a miss or land on the ground nearby. Magic boomerangs could give a skill bonus or guide the item back more often, but could still miss.

Throwing items such as darts, shuriken, rocks, grenades, smoke bombs etc could use a third person view or a behind the ear view to aim.

Bows could use a view down the shaft or near the center of the bow.

The balance between a long bow, short bow, and crossbow isn't always one of slow, medium fast. More realistic advantages and disadvatages could be considerd.

Arrows can be turned in to flaming arrows, poison arrows, exploding arrows, message arrows, enchanted arrows, etc.

Swords can have magic effects such as creating an effect when swung. Swinging at a target could send a baby dragon or hawk to attack in one swoop, throw a fire or ice projectile, or an energy projection of the sword.

Using a sword's magical effect can create a ring of fire or wind for protection, a magical barrier, an abssorb/deflect projectile state, a duplicate user illusion, or teleport behind a target.

Techniques for evasion include splitting to form multiple illusion copies, disapearing and reappearing behind someone, disapearing and ending up in a tree, disapearing in a puff of smoke, or the "log trick" where the opponent strikes only to find their blade stuck in a log while the person escapes.

Dolls or totems could be used to cause charm effects, fear, confusion, or love. Mechanical toys could be used for minor damage and explosive effects.

Strange small animals could be held out to induce effects such as confusion, love, etc. When attached to a stick and rope, it could be flailed around to hit things.
