Scouting

From Neverend

Scouting is an ability that lets the player see areas in first or third person without physically being there. A "scout" creature is created, consisting of no physical form, unless specified as a scouting bird, eye, or other scouting creature. Scouting creatures can fly, move freely in all directions, move for a limited number of spaces or limited number of time, pass through walls, and be targetable or non-targetable based on the type of scout created.

Scouting items include crystal balls and scrying items. Scouting abilities include psionic and magical "sight" spells. Shamans can use sight spells through reagents and rituals. Meditation can enable scout abilities.

Spells:

  • See through POV of invisible hovering scout
  • See through POV of invisible flying scout
  • See through POV of invisible flying scout that can move through walls
  • See self from bird's eye view
  • Summon bird scout, can be controlled directly.
  • Summon ghost scout, can be controlled directly.
  • See POV, allows you to see POV of creature or player, without ability to control.
  • Mind control, allows you to control movement and abilities of target and see POV.

The duration and amount of abilities is determined by magic or psionic skill level, and MP or reagents used.

NPC party members can be used as scouts by selecting them individually, activating "solo" travel, and sending them in to areas alone. When out of solo mode they will attempt to rejoin the party, wait, leave the area, or leave the party.
