As there will be marriages in the game I think we should have the option to be able to change our names at the time of marriage to our spouse's name.

In the case of same sex marriages there will be question of who's name to take, so you should give the option of choice of whose name to take.

The addition of the Marriage system will also have an automatic option to change your name to your partner's (or hyphenated) automatically when you get married.

or Marriage will require registration and you will choose those naming options then. The latter is more likely, easier code in one location.

Keep in mind as well that there will be options for polygamous marriage as well as group marriage with more than one bride AND groom.

Considering there is the option of polygamous marraiges I would suggest that rather than only being able to pick one person's last name to change to that there be the option of changing the last name entirely, to anything that the individuals in the group marraige decide. For example say John Smith, Jane Brown and Mary Black, all 3, are getting married to each other. Allow them to pick a new last name. So they could potentially then become John Jones, Jane Jones and Mary Jones.
