A large number animations exist, with several variations per animation. Animations are selected from an animation list, and executed in the game engine. Animations in battle are a function of several animations being selected, queued, executed, cancelled, expired, interrupted, randomly picked. There are a large number of animations possible, but only relevant animations are chosen based on current context.
[edit] Variation
When lag and framerate is optimal, variation can be displayed. Variation is the difference in appearance and size of similar objects, items, and monsters. During heavy lag they will appear the same, but during optimal conditions they can be slightly different, such as differing skin tone, scales, markings, bumps, horns, stems, leaves, eyes, width, height, etc. Variation of properties includes differing HP and MP, quality of items (food, weapons), mood and emotion.
