Auctioneer is a temporary occupation title given to a player or NPC running an auction. The auctioneer may or may not be the creator of the auction, the owner of the area, or owner of the building being used.

The auction inventory includes all items being sold. The auction inventory must be in the proximity of the auction, and can be in storage or displayed during the auction. When sold, the buyer gains the item. The auction inventory keeps track of variables for all items based on the auction type, such as a minimum bid for each item.

Several types of auctions can be selected for use by the auctioneer:

  • Closed selling, only the auctioneer may sell items
  • Open selling, other players and NPCs may sell items
  • Closed bidding, others are not informed of the bid price of other bidders.
  • Open bidding, others are informed of the bid price of other bidders.
  • Minimum bid, a set price must be met for each item
  • Minimum bid all, all items being sold have the same minimum bid price
  • Reserve, bid must be equal or greater than a hidden price to count as a bid
  • Reserve sold, the first bid to meet or exceed the reserve price wins
  • No minimum, items can be sold at any price above zero
  • Lot, a group of items are being sold
  • Container, items within a container are being sold with all items listed
  • Container hidden, items within a container are being sold with no items listed

  • Market reserve, the item reserve is based on market value
  • Random reserve, the reserve is a random number between x to x
  • Show reserve, the reserve amount is not hidden
  • Lower reserve random, when the reserve is not met the reserve is lowered by a random number between x and x
  • Lower reserve auto, when the reserve is not met the reserve is lowered by a specified number
  • Manual reserve, the reserve is set and raised manually by the auctioneer, and can be lowered if no bids meet the reserve

NPCs can run auctions with minimal risk or high risk depending on whether there is a minimum bid, reserve settings, and number of items being sold.

Objects, NPCs and slaves can be sold at auction through selling deeds as key items. The objects do not have to be present at the auction, but some objects, NPCs and players can be present and displayed based on scripting. Scripts allow presentation of items, slaves, and pets as being lead on stage, displayed on stage until the next item is being presented, and moved off stage. Items and slaves can also be on display in a specified display area, without being moved.
